Chinese New Year season means weddings for the non-Chinese community. For two consequent years, Jujucupcakes has been bombarded with a lot of orders for wedding cakes and hantaran cakes. This year, we decided to celebrate Chinese New Year properly so, only one order penetrate on the first day of Chinese New Year.

My Nephew's Baby Shower Party

On 24 January 2012, we organise a baby shower party for my new nephew, Anas al-Hakeem bin Isa. In Johorean Malay culture we called it 'Cukur Jambul' or hair shaving ceremony. In this ceremony, a poem to praise the Prophet Muhammad will be chant by a group of ladies or men and the baby will be paraded around the group and each member of the group will cut some of the baby's hair.

We would like to thank Lembaga Wanita Islam Kluang for their attendance and performance in this ceremony and Pn. Hajah Hamidah Merican for introducing us to this group.

Everyone has to work hard to finish this dais on time for the wedding.

In the midst of Chinese New Year preparation and our own business, we helped Kak Zah of Kg. Melayu to finish a dais for his son's wedding. It started with pom-pom flowers made from crepe paper and end with colourful paper lantern to modernise the dais.

The result was satisfying because we have changed the original dais from being old fashioned to a modern one!

Fresh flower hantaran

This set of hantaran was ordered by Intan Liana of Baitulmal Johor Bahru for her engagement. Comprises of 9 items and decorated with fresh white and red chrysanthemum and green button mums.
